St. Louis to host 2018 SEC Men’s Tourney

It was announced at the SEC Spring Meetings that the Scottrade Center will hold the league’s Men’s Basketball tournament in 2018.

stcUniversity of Missouri Athletic Director, Mike Alden was quoted as saying:

“I would like to thank Commissioner (Mike) Slive, his staff at the Southeastern Conference and my league counterparts for unanimously approving St. Louis’ proposal to host the 2018 Southeastern Conference Tournament for men’s basketball. I would also like to congratulate Frank (Viverito) and his team with the St. Louis Sports Commission for their efforts in bringing this premier college basketball tournament to our state. There were many worthy venues and cities competing for this championship, and I know our fans, our state and the city of St. Louis will help create a memorable experience for our student-athletes, coaches and fans traveling in for this great event. What an exciting day for our University and our state.”

The 2018 date gives plenty of time for alums across the country to prepare for a winter homecoming of sorts to support the basketball team in the league tournament, and provides somewhat of a demarcation of what expectations are for the Men’s Basketball program in the near future.
